Mindenkinek két nagymamája van, és mindkettőre másként emlékezik vissza. Az egyikre úgy, hogy fémdobozban tartja a süteményt, elbóbiskol kötögetés közben és kis ruhakendővel törli meg a szemét, ha sír. Nála mindig gyönyörű a nyár. A másik nagyi a világ legtalpraesettebb nője, akinek a férje katona volt, és bár nagyon magányos, de tudja, hogyan kell egy jó vásárlással feldobni az unokája napját. Számomra a két nagymamám múltjának és jelenének a dokumentálása volt a diplomamunkám koncepciója. Egy éven át megfigyeltem, miként telnek napjaik, ezáltal megismertem őket és valamilyen szinten magammal is őszintébb lettem. Dokumentáltam a kettejük különbségeit, azonban a forgatás előre haladtával rájöttem, hogy olyan dolgokban hasonlítanak, amiket kezdetben nem is hittem volna. Igyekeztem mindkettőjük számára megteremteni egy sajátos vizuális atmoszférát, amelyhez hozzájárult számos archív fotográfia, valamint VHS kazettára rögzített múltbeli családi emlékek.

Everybody has two grandmothers and everybody remembers them differently. One of them is the type that keeps cookies in jars, who nods off while stitching and wipes her tears with a dress scarf. She is the type of grandmother with whom the summer is always beautiful. The other, as the world’s most experienced woman, whose husband was a soldier and who – while being lonely – knows how to make the day of her grandchild better by taking her shopping. My main goal was to make a documentary about the past and present of my two grandmothers. I observed their everyday lives in the course of a full year. During this year I got to properly know them and by that I also became more sincere towards myself. I wanted to show the difference between them but as the movie progressed I understood how much they really resembled each other in things I would not have though of. I attempted to create a special visual world for both of them, using photos and vhs materials from the past of our family.
