1995 és 2003 között a Felsőőri (Oberwart, Ausztria) Kétnyelvű Gimnázium diákjaként megismertem a burgenlandi magyarokat és az őrvidéki kultúrát. Hihetetlen élmény volt látni, hallani azt a több száz éve elrejtőzött, ápolt, átörökített kincset, amely konzerválta nekünk az őrök, határt vigyázók beszédét, szokásait. A róluk, velük, nekik készült ismeretterjesztő film 5 éven keresztül készült, és igyekszik átfogó képet adni a trianoni békediktátum után nyugaton maradt kis lélekszámú közösségről. Nagyon szerencsésnek mondhatom magam, amiért ez a filmes csapat több éven át ugyanazokból az emberekből állt, ami hasonló projekteknél ritkaságszámba megy. Fontos azt is megjegyeznem, hogy van, aki végig ellenszolgáltatást nem várva dolgozott a stábban. Sikerült az 52 perces változattal olyan formába öntenem a tartalmat, amely televíziós sugárzásra, valamint mozivetítésre egyaránt alkalmas.

As a high school student in Felsőőri (Oberwart, Austria) between 1995 and 2003 I got to know the Hungarian minority in Burgenland and the culture of the border region. It was an extraordinary experience to learn, to see and to hear the several hundred-year-old cultural heritage of the population of that specific region. This documentary film, made with them, about them and for them, was shot throughout a period of 5 years. It attempts to give a comprehensive picture of this specific minority which was cut off from the rest of the Hungarian population as the result of the Trianon peace treaty following World War One. I consider myself truly blessed to have been able to work for several years with the same crew which is rather uncommon in these type of projects. It is also important to add that the crew included some people who did not expect any payment for their work. In this 52 minutes long version of the film I managed to find a form for the movie which is suitable for cinema and television distribution.
