I chose a type of fortune card that specifically relies on folk symbols, folklore beliefs and metaphors for the meaning of the cards. The deck consists of 36 illustrated cards, and I have combined the meaning of the allegorical images that also serve as the names of the cards with a more recent, modern interpretation, updating the meaning where possible, which has consequently become more usable today. The cards are a larger size than an average French card, leaving room for illustrations. The cards were illustrated by hand, digitally, using a single palette of 7 colours.
