Socrates worried that the spread of written words would discourage us from using critical thinking and our own memories, leading to ignorance and mass forgetfulness – and today we turn to digital tools with similar fears. In my research, I question how deep reading can help to bring together highly polarised sections of society. In response, I designed the visual identity of a community library to engage a wider audience.
