My diploma project explores the expressive role of typography in conveying emotion, examining how conscious, subjective, or universal our associations with letterforms are. The project investigates how typography can become a visual tool that shapes text interpretation. Its visual manifestation is an experimental poetry collection titled Inner Landscapes, featuring typography-driven interpretations of selected 20th-century poems. The core of the project is my own variable typeface, enhanced with variations representing different emotions. The book features 42 poems, each functioning as an experimental typographic composition, exploring the relationship between text and letterform. As an extension, a generative video installation was also created, where letterforms transform into dynamic animations, visually projecting the poems’ emotional world into the space.
