Liminal

3D publication

This fictional dysfunctional furniture collection satirically reflects modern society’s demand for comfort and dependence on technology. The catalog evokes the illusion of the perfect home, presenting cozy images where the furniture is beautiful and attractive at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that they lack basic functions or are deliberately dysfunctional and unusable. The aim of the project is to use design to draw attention to the contradictions of progress in the most personal space: the home.

The Visuality of the Future in the 20th and 21st Centuries

thesis

The thesis examines the development of visual representations of visions of the future from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, paying particular attention to the social role of design and art. It discusses the most influential trends in chronological order – such as futurism, constructivism, Bauhaus, modernism, anti-design, the radical architectural movement, postmodernism, conceptual art, design fiction, critical and speculative design – highlighting their connections. The thesis not only analyzes aesthetic aspects, but also takes into account social, political, and technological contexts. It highlights that design can be a tool for raising questions and provoking thought, an attitude, not just a problem-solving approach. The thesis explores how the visual representation of speculative thinking can help shape new visions of the future and initiate social dialogues.
